Documind vs UiPath IXP

UiPath IXP is the extraction part of a large automation platform. Documind automates the content workflow. Three different AI models read each value and must agree before it is approved.

Tell us if something changed.

Choose Documind if

  • A value must be approved by three AI models that agree, not by one model's confidence score.
  • You need tax IDs, IBANs and HS codes checked before a value is approved.
  • Documents must stay on your own servers, even without internet.

Choose UiPath IXP if

  • You already run UiPath robots, agents or Maestro and want extraction in the same platform.
  • Automation Cloud, in one of its regions, meets your data policy.
  • You need FedRAMP, or a vendor with a very large installed base.

In short

  • In IXP, you pick one extraction model for a project. In Documind, three AI models from different families read the same value. A value is approved by itself only when they agree.
  • IXP estimates confidence from the token probabilities of one model. A model without them reports 1.0 for every value.
  • Documind reads print and handwriting in many languages, and checks tax IDs, IBANs and HS codes. UiPath's OCR handwriting table lists nine languages.
  • IXP has the wider platform: robots, agents, Maestro, Action Center, eight cloud regions and FedRAMP.

Decision & confidence
Three model families must agree before auto-approve Yes

Three models from different families read the same content. A value is auto-approved only when all three agree and no rule check fails.

Not published

You select one extraction model per project. An optional model-based attribution makes a second model call to find the value on the page. An agreement rule between models is not listed.

Confidence model Yes

Four separate checks per value: can it be read, was it read right, do the other models agree, do the rules pass.

Partial

Field and extraction confidence from the token probabilities of the chosen model. Models without log probabilities return 1.0 for all values.

Models you can run Yes

Open-weight models from three different families, on your servers.

Three differences that matter

  1. 01

Three AI models must agree, not one model's score

In IXP you choose one extraction model for a project. Its confidence comes from that model's own token probabilities. Documind has three AI models from different families read the same value. If they do not all agree, a person decides.

    In UiPath IXP's words
“Models that do not return log probabilities always return a confidence value of 1.0 for all predicted values.”
    Source (opens in new tab)
  2. 02

    Checks before it approves

Built-in ID checks are not listed in the IXP docs; you build rules in UiPath workflows. In Documind, they are built in. Tax ID and IBAN check digits, HS code formats and ISO 6346 container numbers are checked. A failed check blocks the value.

  3. 03

    Runs on your own servers

IXP's generative extraction runs only in UiPath Automation Cloud, with outside AI models. Documind runs on your servers, even without internet, on AI models you own.

Where UiPath IXP is strong

  1. A full automation platform

IXP is part of a large platform: robots, agents, Maestro, Orchestrator and Action Center. Maestro's Extract node runs an IXP model and can route low-confidence values to a person.

    Source (opens in new tab)
  2. Model choice and long documents

You can pick from several OpenAI and Google model versions, or bring your own subscription. Some models read up to 500 pages per document.

    In UiPath IXP's words
“Gemini will become the default third-party model for new IXP projects”

  3. Wide compliance and regions

The trust page shows SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and FedRAMP. Generative extraction runs in eight cloud regions, from Europe to Singapore.

    Source (opens in new tab)
  4. Source attribution per field

Each extracted value is linked back to its place in the document. This is parity with Documind, not a gap.

    Source (opens in new tab)
  5. Emails and messages

Communications Mining reads emails, tickets and messages, and finds intent and tone. It is part of IXP.

When to choose which

When to choose UiPath IXP

UiPath IXP is a strong choice for teams that already automate with UiPath. Extraction, robots, agents and human review live in one platform. It offers wide compliance, eight cloud regions and a choice of model vendors. If Automation Cloud fits your data policy, IXP keeps everything in one place.

  • You already run UiPath robots, agents or Maestro and want extraction in the same platform.
  • Automation Cloud, in one of its regions, meets your data policy.
  • You need FedRAMP, or a vendor with a very large installed base.

When to choose Documind

Choose Documind when a wrong value is costly and you want the workflow automated. Three different AI models read each value and must agree before it is approved. Tax ID, IBAN and HS code checks run as code and can block a value. Documind runs on your own servers, even without internet.

  • A value must be approved by three AI models that agree, not by one model's confidence score.
  • You need tax IDs, IBANs and HS codes checked before a value is approved.
  • Documents must stay on your own servers, even without internet.

Document-type fit

IXP reads any document type you set up, in the languages its chosen model supports. Documind reads business and trade documents in many languages: invoices, e-invoices, delivery notes, customs packets, LC sets and handwritten forms. It checks tax IDs, IBANs and HS codes as code.

Frequently asked questions

What is UiPath IXP?

IXP stands for Intelligent Xtraction and Processing. It brings together Communications Mining, a generative extractor for complex documents, and access to Document Understanding. It runs inside the UiPath platform.

How does IXP decide how confident it is?

UiPath's docs say IXP uses the token probabilities of the chosen model to estimate confidence. Models that do not return them report 1.0 for every value. Documind has three AI models from different families read each value. A value is approved by itself only when all three agree and the rules pass.

Does UiPath IXP read many languages and handwriting?

Document Understanding OCR publishes a list of printed-text languages. The generative extractor supports any language its chosen model supports. The OCR handwriting table lists nine languages. Documind reads print and handwriting in many languages, including accented letters.

Can UiPath IXP run on-premises?

The generative extractor for complex documents is only available in UiPath Automation Cloud. Document Understanding also runs in Automation Suite and Standalone. Documind runs on your own servers, including without internet.

How much does UiPath IXP cost?

IXP uses AI Units and Platform Units. Generative extraction uses 0.8 to 1 AI Unit per page. Since July 2026, extraction is charged per operation. UiPath does not publish a currency price on the pages we checked. Documind has a free Starter plan with 1,000 credits a week. Enterprise pricing is on request.

Does IXP show where each value came from?

Yes. UiPath links each extracted field back to its source. Documind does this too. The difference is how a value gets approved: Documind needs three AI models to agree first.
