Extend is document infrastructure for developers who build AI agents. Documind automates the content workflow end to end. Three AI models must agree on each value, and ID checks are built in.
A value must be approved by three different AI models that agree, not by one confidence score.
You need tax IDs, IBANs and HS codes checked before a value is approved, without writing the checks.
Documents must stay on your own servers, including air-gapped.
Choose Extend if
Your engineers build document steps into an AI product or agent and want SDKs, a CLI and an MCP server.
Cloud hosting in the US or the EU, or BYOC in your own cloud account, meets your data policy.
You want to start self-serve with free credits and pay per credit.
In short
→Extend's Review Agent checks extraction results, but Extend does not publish its model family or an agreement rule. Documind requires three AI models from different families to agree, and it runs air-gapped.
→Both show the exact spot on the page for each value, and both include a review queue.
→Extend's Validation step runs JavaScript checks that you write. In Documind, tax ID, IBAN and HS code checks are built in.
→Extend runs in its US or EU cloud, in your cloud account (BYOC) or as a hybrid. It does not offer a fully air-gapped deployment.
→Extend Pay As You Go is $0.0125 per credit after 10,000 free credits. An extracted page uses 5 credits in Performance mode (USD list price, 12 October 2026).

Overview
Positioning
Enterprise content workflow automation. Three AI models from different families read every value and must agree before it is approved. Tax ID, IBAN and HS code checks are built in.
"Document Processing Infrastructure for AI Agents" (Extend homepage title).
Three models from different families read the same content. A value is approved only when all three agree and no rule check fails.
Not published
The Review Agent is "a specialized system" that checks extraction results and flags likely errors. Its model family is not stated. A rule that different model families must agree is not described.
Four separate checks per value: can it be read, was it read right, do the other model families agree, do the rules pass. Never blended into one number.
Review Agent returns one score from 1 to 5 per field, described as "a centralized metric to judge extraction confidence". OCR confidence is also available.
Review Queue and Review Workspace: document with box overlay, alternative values, model sources and the reason for review.
Yes
Human Review workflow step with a review queue in the Extend dashboard: document on the left, outputs with citations, confidence and Review Agent issues on the right.
Tax ID and IBAN check digits, HS code formats and ISO 6346 container numbers are checked. A failed check blocks the value.
Not published
Built-in tax ID, IBAN or HS code checks are not listed on the pages we read. The Validation step runs JavaScript code blocks that you write, so your team can add its own.
Open-weight models from three different families. They run on your own servers; no outside AI service is needed.
"A mix of trained-in-house and frontier models", with Performance and Light modes. A customer model choice is not listed; the Enterprise plan lists custom models.
Cloud, BYOC (your cloud account and VPC) or Hybrid, where AI processing runs in Extend's cloud. The docs state that Extend "does not currently offer a fully air-gapped deployment".
Free Starter plan with 1,000 credits a week. Enterprise pricing on request. Details on the pricing page.
Pay As You Go: 10,000 free credits, then $0.0125 per credit. Scale: $500 per month with 50,000 credits. Extract uses 5 credits per page in Performance mode.
Extend's Review Agent checks extraction results and gives each field a score from 1 to 5. Extend does not say which model family runs it. In Documind, three AI models from different families read each value. A value is approved only when all three agree and no rule check fails.
In Extend's words
“a specialized system that analyzes extraction results to identify potential issues”
Extend's Validation step runs JavaScript checks that your team writes. Documind has the checks built in. Tax ID and IBAN check digits, HS code formats and container numbers are checked. A failed check blocks the value.
Extend offers its own cloud in the US or the EU, BYOC in your cloud account, and Hybrid. In Hybrid, AI processing runs in Extend's cloud. Documind runs on your own servers, including fully air-gapped. No outside AI service is needed.

SDKs for Python, TypeScript, Java and Go, plus a CLI and an MCP server. Evaluation sets measure results against reviewed ground truth. Documind does not offer a CLI or an MCP server.
Extend is a strong choice for engineering teams that build document processing into their own products. It has SDKs in four languages, a CLI, an MCP server and evaluation sets. It shows citations, has a review queue and runs coded validation checks. Pricing is public, and you can start self-serve. If the Extend cloud or BYOC meets your policy, developers get to a working pipeline quickly.

When to choose Documind
Choose Documind when three different AI models must agree before a value is approved. Documind reads many languages, including handwriting. Tax ID, IBAN and HS code checks are built in, and a failed check blocks the value. Your team does not have to write them. Documind runs on your own servers, including air-gapped.

Document-type fit
Extend offers general-purpose APIs that you configure for each document type. It names logistics companies among its customers. Prebuilt customs packets with EUR.1 or A.TR certificates were not seen on its public pages. Documind reads the full customs and shipping packet, LC sets and e-invoices. It checks the documents against each other and checks local tax IDs and HS codes.

How to switch
Move from Extend in three steps
You can run both systems side by side until the evaluation results satisfy you.
STEP 1
Connect your source
Point an inbox, SFTP folder or S3 bucket at Documind. You can also call the REST API from your existing code.
STEP 2
Import your schema
Start from your current Extend field list. The Workflow Generator drafts the schema, the prompt and the validation code for you to approve.
STEP 3
Run an evaluation set
Reuse the documents from your Extend evaluation sets as ground truth. The report card shows the weakest fields before you go live.
Frequently asked questions
How does Documind decide a value is right?
+
Three different AI models, from different model families, read each value. The value is approved only when all three agree and no rule check fails. Otherwise a person decides, and the screen shows the reason.
How much does Extend cost?
+
Extend lists a free Pay As You Go plan with 10,000 credits, then $0.0125 per credit. The Scale plan is $500 per month with 50,000 credits. Extract in Performance mode uses 5 credits per page, including parsing. These are USD list prices, checked on 12 October 2026. Documind has a free Starter plan with 1,000 credits a week. Enterprise pricing is on request.
Can Extend run on-premises or air-gapped?
+
Extend's deployment docs list three models. They are Extend cloud in the US or the EU, BYOC in your own cloud account, and Hybrid. The same page states that Extend does not currently offer a fully air-gapped deployment. Documind runs on your own servers, including air-gapped.
Does Extend have a human review screen?
+
Yes. Extend's Human Review step puts runs in a review queue in the Extend dashboard. Reviewers see the document, citations, confidence scores and Review Agent issues. Documind's Review Workspace also shows the alternative values and the reason the value was routed.
Does Extend read many languages and handwriting?
+
Extend's homepage lists more than 100 languages. Handwriting languages are not listed on the pages we read, so test your own samples. Its Validation step can run checks your team writes in JavaScript. Documind reads many languages, including handwriting, and tax ID, IBAN and HS code checks are built in.
Is Extend KVKK aligned?
+
Extend lists SOC 2, HIPAA and GDPR on its homepage. KVKK is not listed on its public pages. Documind is GDPR and KVKK aligned, and SOC 2 Type II in progress.
